Effective Business Social Networking
In learning how to effectively use business social networks, including Twitter, I have come across many spam messages and spam tweets.
What I find particularly annoying are private messages that promote the same business as mine. In these instances it is very apparent that the sender had not taken the trouble to read my profile.
We must understand the rules of Web 2.0/3.0 and social networking.
Here is an example of what a person might do when not following the rules of Web 2.0 and social networking: They would follow thousands of people every day on say, Twitter, and then multiple times a day, would send out tweets saying stuff like “Make $5000 a week, go here www.theirwebsite.com”. I have seen so many people do this, and my guess is that they are not seeing much in the way of results. This is because these tweets are considered ‘Spam Tweets’.
These days, the word spamming, means more than just sending unsolicited emails. These days, spamming is classed as sending messages that have no value, but you are only advertising your website with nothing for the person to gain.
Now this may have relevance to your marketing efforts – particularly if you are promoting through business social networks.
I know I try not to spam – acknowledging something from a person’s profile is a good way to start. At least it shows to those to whom you are promoting that you have taken a genuine interest in them.
Offering something that is useful and for free is another way to go. (e.g.,http://www.trafficsnatch.com). Just sending them a message thanking them for accepting your Friend or Connection request may encourage useful dialogue. The idea is to create a favorable impression first, then profitable dialogue may follow (ie “dia” signifying a TWO-way communication.)
Now here is a good idea you can use to gain TARGETED followers for Twitter:
Open your account then go to monitter.com and insert:
‘home business’ ‘ make money’ ‘ online income’ in the top three boxes.
Then click on the profiles of posts made and hit the “follow” button. You will find that many (if not most) will reciprocate and follow you. Make sure your profile is relevant. If they are interested they may just click on your link. These people, by definition, are home business/online income/make money types.
There are many other ways to use business social networks – I do hope the snippets given here have been helpful.

Your perspective is great. I feel that we must carry on this way and see this occurs.
Sounds like a good idea. You will have tons of subscriber if you do that.
